Introduction & Overview

We treat children and young people between the ages of 0 and 18 years old with a range of emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. Every young person is a unique individual and our aim is to help young people overcome their difficulties. These are the kind of conditions we can assess and work with: Anxiety and Mood Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD/ ADD) Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Behavioural Disorders Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression) Depression Eating Disorders Executive Functioning Learning Difficulties Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Psychotic Disorders and Schizophrenia Self Harm Sensory Processing Speech and Language Difficulties Stress Related Problems For some conditions, particularly global learning difficulties and severe ASD, we may recommend referral to specialist centres who are able to provide the necessary more intensive interventions. However, we can still see the young person and his/her family to address additional mental health needs and to offer support and advice. Mild, moderate and severe mental health problems The terms mild, moderate and severe are used in this information to describe different levels of mental health problems. A mild mental health problem is when a person has a small number of symptoms that have a limited effect on their daily life. A moderate mental health problem is when a person has more symptoms that can make their daily life much more difficult than usual. A severe mental health problem is when a person has many symptoms that can make their daily life extremely difficult. A person may experience different levels at different times.
